Sister Marie Jeanne Beauregard, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died Monday, May 18, 2020 in Fall River, MA. Their lives were a gift and a blessing to the Sisters of St. Dominic, their families, friends, and colleagues. Dominican Sister of Peace Margaret Philip (Phyllis Frances) Shaw, OP (91), died on May 22, 2022, at the Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, KY. Sr. Margaret Philip was accustomed to living in community from an early age, growing up with seven siblings and parents Margaret Sheehan and Philip Shaw. She worked for four years before hearing Gods call and entered the Congregation in 1953. She returned to the Motherhouse to work with children in the preschool program and then used her computer skills as support staff at the Motherhouse in the Office of Development with the Honors and Memorials program; at Regina High School, Minneapolis, in the business office; and at St. Jude Convent, Montgomery, AL, as bookkeeper. She was appointed to both the Admission and Formation Commission and the Finance and Development Commission. A Wake and Vigil of Remembrance Service were held at the Columbus Motherhouse Chapel on December 29, 2022. Sr. Mary Esther is survived by several cousins and members of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. There, she was the social ministry director and administrator at Christian Emergency Help Centers, which was later renamed the Sullivan Center in her honor. Many admired her lifetime dedication to her family, particularly her older sister Germaine, who was also a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa. She ministered with the House of Connections and The Learning Center in Chicago, providing adult education and literacy programs and serving the center as executive director, employment counselor, and program director.
